HAWAII OPERA THEATRE VOLUNTEER WORKThe Hawaii Opera Theatre (HOT) was founded in 1960 as a non-profit organization. Its aim is to showcase high quality opera and musical theatre and provide opportunities involving the arts and music to the general public. Being one of the states largest performing arts organizations, the HOT has hosted many different brilliant productions. In fact, talented performers internationally compete for three years in advance for a chance to perform at the HOT. As well as giving theatrical productions with well renowned opratists, the HOT has their own chorus comprised of trained members of the community who perform on stage. Though the stage is welcome to international artists, the HOT makes sure that local talents shine alongside them.
As well as putting on productions, the HOT reaches out to connect with Hawaii's youth. They tour schools, bring students to dress rehearsals, and even have several singing programs. Their singing programs range from elementary to high school to adults, providing unique opportunities for all ages. |
